Mortality. Irony. Final Destination?

So, we all swore she would die in a horrible car accident that involved her driving after a bottle or two of vodka. Or maybe she'd be found face down behind a crackhouse in Baltimore. But no, she didn't end up like we all thought...

After a hell-bent-for-destruction life, Bobbie managed to clean her life up for a year or so. Then a friend offered some ill-thought pills for a backache. Bobbie took one (a methedone pill), fell asleep, and never woke up. Not nearly as dramatic as the crack smoking that caused her so many adventures in her life. But it turns out there really was a decent soul beneath the skin of the crackhead alcoholic she appeared to be. It's comforting to know now. I don't feel as deceived by her as I once did.

One of her last hand-written journal entries read "what if you die and it doesn't matter?". Guess she knows the answer now. And we probably aren't nearly as far behind as we'd like to think...

Here's to you Bobbie Joe. Rest In Peace 'hon...

But yet...

I still drive on. Sick. Tired. I have circles under my eyes that my high school geometry teacher (cheers to Mr. Bob Bloom!) couldn't even draw. This world sure is lucky to have me in it.

Hmm... maybe it was all those burritos?

Burritos

I have sunk to a new low. I went to Dollar General Saturday and bought an entire case of frozen burritos (ok, it was only 12, but still...).

That's a lot of burritos.

What's worse is, this is the only thing I can think of to post.

New addition to the family

Today, I bid a fond farewell to my 2003 S-10 LS 4x4 Crew Cab. It gave me about 30,100 miles of loyal service, for which I am thankful. But today is a new day...

I just parked my 2005 Chevy Silverado LS Crew Cab in the driveway, and it sure looks good! Black exterior with gray interior, polished steel wheels, chrome nerfbars, and a handsome devil behind the wheel. Ah yes, a 5.3 liter v8 that says "It's ok Jim, I'll take the load off for you. Just enjoy the ride.". Sweet, sweet, sweet. I am truly blessed to be able to afford such a ride. I can't wait to drive to work tomorrow! :-)

I'd like to send condolences out to Don Geronimo of the Don & Mike Radio Show in Washington, DC. Don's wife, Frita, died in a car accident Sunday. It's amazing that how after listening to a radio show for years (first heard them back around 1996), that I feel like someone in my own family has been lost. So best wishes and heart-felt sympathies go out to both families, and the crew at the Don & Mike Radio Show.

I like beating up on myself...

I am Jim.

My life consists of groveling beneath the feet of my employer, putting in more effort than those around me getting paid ... about the same, maybe a little more, but working a lot more, because I strive for the infrequent pat on the back that says "You made me money today boy, keep it up!".

But hey, that makes me happy! In a dull, unfulfilling sort of way...

I am Jim, hear me roar!

FIRST POST!!

Woohoo!! It's like Slashdot, but more beer.

I spelled 'hear' incorrectly. Proof that Blogger accounts should be armed with breathalyzers.
